Licensing Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
This policy explains what you’re actually buying when you purchase a Redmineflux plugin or subscribe to Redmineflux Cloud. It works alongside our Terms of Service — if the two ever conflict, the Terms of Service governs.
The short version
- Self-hosted plugins: one-time purchase = a perpetual license to run that plugin on one production Redmine installation, no per-user fees, ever.
- Free plugins: same perpetual license, no purchase required.
- Cloud: not a license — it’s a hosted subscription. Your right to use it ends when your subscription ends.
- You’re licensing the right to use the software. Redmineflux keeps ownership of it.
1. Self-hosted plugins (paid)
When you buy a plugin (Light, Standard, or Premium tier), you get:
- Scope: a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and run that plugin on one production Redmine installation that you own or operate.
- No user caps: pricing is per installation, not per seat — add as many users as your Redmine instance supports at no extra license cost.
- Non-production copies: you may run the same plugin on staging/test/development copies of the licensed installation for the purpose of testing that installation, at no extra cost. This does not extend to a second independent production instance.
- Updates & support: your purchase includes 1 year of updates and support from the date of purchase. After year one, continued updates and support require a support renewal at 30% of the original plugin price. If you don’t renew, you keep the right to run the version you have — you just stop receiving new updates and support.
- No lock-in: all plugin data lives in Redmine’s own database tables. If you remove a plugin, your data stays intact and usable.
What you can’t do
- Resell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute the plugin, with or without modification.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code, except where local law makes this restriction unenforceable.
- Use one license across multiple independent production installations (e.g., separate installs for separate client companies) — each production installation needs its own license.
- Remove or alter copyright/license notices in the plugin.
Bundles
A bundle license (Essential, Project Management, All Plugins) is the same per-installation license described above, applied individually to each plugin in the bundle. Bundle pricing is a purchase-time discount — it doesn’t change the license terms of the plugins inside it.
2. Free plugins
Inline Editor, Mentions, and Tags Plugin are licensed the same way as paid plugins (Section 1) — perpetual, per-installation, no user caps — minus the payment. No support SLA is attached to free plugins; support is best-effort via community channels.
3. Redmineflux Cloud (subscription, not a license)
Cloud (Basic, Standard, Pro) is a hosted service, not a software license. You don’t receive a copy of the software — you receive access to it for as long as you pay for it.
- Access to all bundled plugins is included in every tier for the life of your subscription.
- When your subscription ends (cancellation or non-payment), your access ends. See the Terms of Service for the data-export window before deletion.
- Enterprise Cloud (custom seats, SLAs, air-gapped deployments) is governed by your signed enterprise agreement, not this page.
4. Ownership
Redmineflux and its licensors retain all right, title, and interest in the plugins, the Cloud platform, and all associated code, design, and documentation. Purchasing a license or subscribing to Cloud gives you the right to use the product under the terms above — it does not transfer any ownership or IP rights to you. Data you create while using Redmineflux (your projects, issues, tasks, files) remains yours.
5. License verification
We reserve the right to ask you to reasonably confirm you’re within the terms of your license (e.g., one production installation per license) if we have good reason to believe otherwise. We won’t do this routinely or intrusively.
6. Termination
We may terminate your license if you materially breach these terms (e.g., redistributing a plugin, running one license across multiple production instances) and don’t fix it within a reasonable notice period. Termination doesn’t entitle you to a refund — see our Refund Policy.
Refund Policy
Last updated: July 17, 2026
Redmineflux offers a free demo sandbox so you can fully test any plugin or the Cloud platform before you pay. Because of this, and because plugin licenses activate immediately on purchase, we do not offer refunds for change-of-mind or “we no longer need this” requests.
That said, we stand behind what we sell. The exceptions below are the cases where we will refund you.
Try before you buy
Every plugin and every Cloud plan can be tested first:
- Self-hosted plugins — free demo sandbox, no credit card required, 30-second setup.
- Cloud (Basic / Standard / Pro) — free trial period; you won’t be charged until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time before then.
We strongly recommend testing in the demo before purchasing. This is the main reason we don’t offer general refunds — you get to see exactly what you’re buying first.
When we do refund
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| You were charged twice, or charged the wrong amount (billing error) | Full refund of the duplicate or incorrect amount. |
| A paid plugin is materially broken — doesn’t install or doesn’t perform its core function on a supported Redmine version, and our support team can’t fix it within 14 days of your ticket | Full refund of that plugin’s purchase price. |
| Cloud subscription billed after you cancelled | Full refund of the incorrectly billed period. |
| Enterprise contracts | Refund terms are whatever is written in your signed agreement — that document governs, not this page. |
We do not refund
- Change-of-mind purchases, or plugins you decide you no longer need.
- Free plugins (Inline Editor, Mentions, Tags) — no payment was made, so there’s nothing to refund.
- Support renewal fees once support has been delivered for that period.
- Partial months/years on Cloud subscriptions — cancelling stops future billing but does not refund the current billing period (see Terms of Service).
- Bundle purchases where only one component is at issue — we’ll fix or replace that plugin first; a refund only follows if it meets the “materially broken” criteria above.
Cloud subscriptions specifically
Cloud plans (Basic, Standard, Pro) are billed monthly or annually in advance. You can cancel any time from your account page — cancellation stops the next renewal but does not refund the period you’re currently in. This matches the auto-renewal terms in our Terms of Service.
How to request a refund
Email support@redmineflux.com with:
- Your order/invoice number or account email
- Which plugin or plan the request relates to
- What happened (for defect claims, include what you tried and any error messages)
We’ll respond within 3 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 5–10 business days.
